Post-acute sequelae of COVID-19
(PASC)

Long COVID, also known as Long Haul COVID Syndrome (LHCS) or Post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), is a condition in which symptoms persist for weeks or months after an initial COVID-19 infection, even if the original illness was mild. It commonly affects multiple systems in the body and may include fatigue, brain fog, shortness of breath, cardiovascular, and autonomic symptoms.

The condition is thought to involve a combination of ongoing inflammation, immune dysregulation, microvascular changes, and possibly viral persistence.

Symptoms often fluctuate over time and can significantly impact daily functioning, making recognition and supportive care important in recovery.

The condition can often feel hopeless, and you may feel abandoned by the medical system and your support system. However, as research and clinic practice continue to evolve, the path to recovery becomes brighter.

At Lifespan Health, we employ both standard-of-care and powerful integrative interventions to address the underlying (root) mechanisms of systemic damage, and provide patients with effective ways of returning to their previous health and function.

to Long COVID

The Process

An overview of our approach to treating Long COVID

The consultation begins the collaboration between you and Lifespan Health providers and staff. We explore in great detail your current condition, the chronology of your illness, and additional contributory factors (other health conditions, nutrition, sleep, toxin exposures, medications/supplements).

This is generally a 90-minute appointment. If your condition requires shorter periods, then we can divide the consultation into two sessions.

Having appropriate and complete data helps to support your diagnosis and guides treatment protocols.

Testing may include:

– Blood work: standard health markers, inflammatory markers, long COVID-specific markers

– Functional stool test to assess current state of your microbiome, intestinal integrity, and intesting immune status.

– Specific toxic testing to assess your body burden of chemicals, heavy metals, mold toxins and more.

Integrating the diagnostic data with your history, symptoms and previous treatments, we collaboratively create a personalized, research-informed treatment plan for your recovery.

Treatments may include any of the following:

– Targeted medications, including compounded medications
– Targeted nutraceuticals (supplements), including novel creations specific for Long COVID
– Peptide therapies
– Therapeutic IV infusions
– High-concentration ozone therapies, such as EBOO
– Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
– Therapeutic Plasma Exchange

Now the healing begins…

Using the treatment plan as a roadmap, you begin to implement specific interventions, as tolerated. The timeline may vary from person-to-person depending on tolerance and reactivity.

It is important to have close follow-up, to assess response and determine if adjustments in you plan are needed.

We may choose to repeat selected diagnostic tests to determine progress.
